"Marry your best friend. I do not say that lightly. Really, truly find the strongest, happiest friendship in the person you fall in love with. Someone who speaks highly of you. Someone you can laugh with. The kind of laughs that make your belly ache, and your nose snort. The embarrassing, earnest, healing kind of laughs. Wit is important. Life is too short not to love someone who lets you be a fool with them. Make sure they are somebody who lets you cry, too. Despair will come. Find someone that you want to be there with you through those times. Most importantly, marry the one that makes passion, love, and madness combine and course through you. A love that will never dilute - even when the waters get deep, and dark." -N'Tima

I know I'm too much
and loving me can be hard,
but I am worth it.

The Laughing Heart

your life is your life
don’t let it be clubbed into dank submission.
be on the watch.
there are ways out.
there is a light somewhere.
it may not be much light but
it beats the darkness.
be on the watch.
the gods will offer you chances.
know them.
take them.
you can’t beat death but
you can beat death in life, sometimes.
and the more often you learn to do it,
the more light there will be.
your life is your life.
know it while you have it.
you are marvelous
the gods wait to delight
in you.

I remember I was suffering from jetlag. I fell asleep early and woke up in the middle of the night. I had been thinking about going to your room, I wanted to say hi. I wanted to curl up next to you, press the palm of my hand to your torso, and slide my fingers over to your hip. But I knew that was only a fantasy. One most likely born out of a barely explored desire. So I rolled over and forced myself back to sleep. When I awoke, you were gone.

Trout Creek

A month ago, my mom and I drove to Montana to pick up the newest member of our family. Pavi is loving his new life and now it's as though he's been here forever.
