Laundry on a whole new level

So I'm all moved in and I really like my place. I still need to do a bit more cleaning and my kitchen could use more food but things are going well. The only thing that sucks is the washing machine. I went to do laundry last night and for some reason the water didn't drain so I had to bother my landlord but his wife just said it was cause the dial hadn't gone all the way to the end. So I turned it on two more times and it this morning it still hadn't drained. Totally gross. I pulled all my clothes out, wrung them out and hung them up. Water got all over the floor but I kept it fairly contained. I asked if they could call someone to come fix it tomorrow, hopefully they will because I'm almost out of clean shirts...

My First Apartment

So I've been searching for a place to live because my current situation is temporary and I finally found a listing online for a studio apartment which is really rare! Most places in Palestine are meant for families so usually you just rent a room in a three or four bedroom place. I called the number listed which was for a realtor and I went and saw the place the next day! It's basically a big room with a little kitchenette, a bathroom and a washer but it's great! There's a nice garden outside and if I need anything the landlord and his family live right next door. I went and got the keys today and I'm moving in on Wednesday!

Happy Holidays!

I can't believe it's December already! This year sort of flew by, and it was a big one, a lot of shit went down and now, suddenly, it's almost over! One of the things I was bummed about when I found out I would be leaving for Palestine was that I was going to miss the holidays. I'm very American that way, I love the holidays, especially because my birthday, Hanukkah and Christmas are all in the same month. I was a very spoiled little kid (I still am). And even though I hate the cold I kind of love the crisp chill in the air, the Hanukkah candles, the Christmas lights, the hot chocolate and just the general atmosphere. My birthday is in 12 days!!! I know it won't really be that eventful but at this age having a birthday is still fun, gotta savor it.

On another note I'm going to look at an apartment tomorrow, hopefully it works out and I can finally have a place of my own. Winter is starting to arrive, it's getting really cold at night, the wind has been howling for the past two days and I'm sure rain is right around the corner. I think I'm going to have my first class next week, probably on Tuesday, scary! I hope I don't suck. This job is kind of a test run for my future career so if I hate it then I'm not really sure where that leaves me...

Happy Hanukkah!
